About Us

'Gamelle Restaurant' is located in the heart of Toronto on the College Street strip, which includes 'Little Italy' and 'Little Portugal'. 'Gamelle' could be found in any major city in the world; Paris, New York, Montreal, London and others. With its French flavor, wood floors and a pewter bar reminiscent of the Bistros in Paris, 'Gamelle' offers an incomparable blend of ambiance, good food and great wines.

My name is Jean-Pierre Centeno (jp@gamelle.com). When we conceptualized the restaurant we wanted to have a restaurant with no frontiers, where everyone was welcome as long as they shared our passion for food and wines. I was born in France from Spanish parents and was blessed by growing up in the South of France, where the quality of food is immeasurable. We have developed a discriminating palate, which helps us to be more secure in the quality of produce demanded from our suppliers. We purchase most of our vegetables from local farmers to assure freshness, and our meats from anywhere within our country. We love what we do and we want to share with our friends, so please join us and let us know what you think. We hope our web site will prove informative.

The welcoming, small room and its beautiful tin ceiling are perfect for an evening of pleasure. The cooking, by Sean Moore seanmoore@gamelle.com, is light but full of flavors. Butter and cream are second fiddles here, as olive oil emulsions are center stage. Sean likes to work with local products and is not afraid of marrying Cedar infusion with Quebec’s Île Vèrte “Pré-Salé” Leg of Lamb with Rosemary and Mint Reduction.

There is a wide range of fresh vegetables, changing constantly as seasons pass. The Menu is of French influence, with bursts of flavors from France’s Provence. Sean also creates vegetarian dishes that are well balanced nutritionally and pleasant to the taste. If you have any questions about our food, about a recipe or about a product you are trying to locate, please email jp@gamelle.com; he will love to help you.

We will assist you in choosing from our carefully selected and extensive Wine List. All of our wines have being selected from private stock orders. Small 'Appellations' from France, to popular New World Wines are available. You can compliment the dishes you have slected with a bottle of wine of your choice, or you may wish to let Sean and I match the wine and food course by course, as part of our “Menu Degustation”. Our wines come from small producers with a devotion for winemaking, regardless of the country of origin. We trust our palate and our suppliers to provide you with a great product at a reasonable price. We can help you selecting wines for your cellar or for your dinner party as part of our catering and Sommelier service. If you have question about wines you already possess, please email jp@gamelle.com , I would love to help.

See you soon -
